CIRCUIT DES REMPARTS

Wednesday 12 September

The tour starts in Portsmouth where we meet to board the ferry for the overnight sailing to Caen. On board we’ll meet for a Welcome drink as the ship sets sail.

Thursday 13 September

Leaving Caen in the early morning we are heading for the banks of the River Loire. There will be time en route to make a stop or two, perhaps in the delightful spa town of Bagnoles-de-l’Orne or at the Le Mans Circuit Museum. At lunchtime we will rendezvous at a riverside winery in Saumur where we will enjoy a guided visit, tasting and lunch. Afterwards there will be time to perhaps visit a chateau or to stroll through Saumur itself before making your way to our hotel where accommodation is reserved for this evening. We will take dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Friday 14 September

After breakfast there will be time this morning and if you wish to visit a nearby chateau before leaving the Valley of the Kings. We will take a splendid picnic lunch from the hotel, giving you the flexibility to enjoy your day as you wish and to make your way to Angouleme in your own time. Having checked in to your hotel we will distribute your rally packs and tickets over a Welcome drink. Afterwards the evening is free to make your way into town to see the magnificent vehicles on display in the Concours d'Elegance.

Saturday 15 September

This morning you have the option to take part in the scenic rally. Departing early morning you will drive some very fine roads surrounding Angouleme. There are checkpoint and refreshment points along the way and an excellent lunch is organised half way around. Alternatively, you can spend the day in town watching as the cars arrive in the paddock and make their final preparations for the racing tomorrow.

This evening you have tickets for the competitors' gala buffet in the covered market, where the eagerly awaited results of the Concours are usually announced.

Sunday 16 September

Practice starts early in the morning with racing beginning after the break for lunch. Join the crowds in the grandstands and in the paddock where there is a great atmosphere and respect for the cars and their drivers.

This evening we have organised a farewell dinner at the Mercure Hotel where you will be able to swap anecdotes with your fellow travellers.

Monday 17 September

After breakfast at the hotel make your way north to Caen for the mid-afternoon ferry arriving in Portsmouth in the late evening. If you prefer a more leisurely return, talk to us about an extension of your stay in France.
