After becoming friends with the organisers of the Classic Days event and witnessing the rise in popularity of it we wanted to ensure it became part of our programme. Taking place at the former Grand Prix circuit at Magny Cours, 2010 will see the third running of the Classic Days event. In 2009 close to 400 classic cars gathered to create a spectacular collection both in the paddocks and on the Magny Cours circuit too. The event is open to pre 1980 cars and later models on application.
The 2010 Classic days weekend consists of either a gentle tour around the Nievre region taking place on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Or you can take to the Circuit de Magny Cours for the track sessions with the opportunity to drive the circuit during the weekend. There are also many demonstrations of important cars that take place and lots of stalls with memorabilia and souvenirs to keep you busy throughout the Classic Days weekend.
If you take some time to explore the area you will not be disappointed. The River Loire runs through the city of Nevers. Following the river northwards and less than an hour’s drive you will come to the wine producing town of Sancerre where you can visit the small producers and taste their wines. Just an hour’s drive west is the historic city of Bourges. A beautiful town centre with narrow cobbled streets, picturesque squares with fountains and pavement cafes all fan out from the famous cathedral and the road to Bourges takes you through some very pretty villages. This is the heart of rural France, criss-crossed by canals and waterways and changing landscapes. It is a very pleasant area in which to spend a few days.
