th running of this most famous of all endurance races. Join us in La Sarthe where a full entry of cars and drivers will be competing for glory in the le Mans 24 hour race on this legendary circuit.
In 2011, despite losing two cars in high speed accidents, Audi pulled off a win by just 13 seconds over the 2
nd placed Peugeot. Marcel Fassler was delighted – not just by the win but also by being the first ever Swiss winner of the le Mans 24 hour race! For 2012 Toyota are returning to Le Mans and have already confirmed an impressive driver line-up of Wurz, Lapierre and Nakajima – three extremely talented and experienced endurance racers. The Le Mans 24 Hours is the pinnacle of sports car racing and, whilst the list of entries has yet to be revealed, there's no doubt that the starting grid will read, as always, like the Who’s Who of motorsport because, mid-June there's really nowhere else to be!
As a spectator your Le Mans experience need not be a test of endurance. With the right travel, accommodation and ticket arrangements in place well in advance you can simply concentrate on enjoying the le Mans 24 hour event. Our flexible self-drive itineraries mean you can spend up to a week in France and enjoy as much of the 2012 le Mans 24 action as you wish. Scrutineering takes place in Le Mans on Sunday afternoon and all day Monday, practice and qualifying sessions take place on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday is a free day. Today there’s no on-track action although you are free to visit the pit lane between 1000h and 2000h and to watch the drivers' parade in the centre of Le Mans in the late afternoon. Saturday starts with an early morning warm-up, a support race – historic racing cars or Group C for example, followed by parades and displays building-up to the start of the 2012 le Mans 24 hours race at 1500h.
