Historic Grand Prix of Porto

Oporto

Returning in 2009...

Grandstand Motor Sports and the Grand Touring Club ran a successful tour to Oporto in 2007. The event will run again in 2009.

Porto is an excellent destination for a short break even without the bonus of two significant street races taking place there over consecutive weekends. The Douro River meanders through the old part of the town before it meets the Atlantic Ocean and the names of famous port lodges line the river, alongside numerous café bars.

Oporto Historic Grand PrixAs official tour operators for these prestigious events we are offering a three night tour by air to the inaugural WTCC Race and the choice of a fantastic driving holiday and a three night tour by air for the Grande Premio Historico do Porto. On all tours you have a choice of hotels in all categories in Oporto.

The racing, on the historic Boavista circuit, during the Historic Grand Prix weekend  promises to be spectacular too and you can expect to see the top racing series tackling this demanding circuit. Oporto Historic Grand Prx 1953Confirmed grids include:  Pre-War Sports Cars, Pre-1961 front engine Formula One, Pre-1966 rear engined Formula One, Drum brake Sport cars, World Sports Masters, Formula Júnior FIA Lurani, Grand Prix Masters – Pre-1978 Formula One, GT Endurance Masters, Sports Racing Masters, Touring, GT and Sports Classics up to 1980. All racing on a street circuit by the beach.

It is not just the racing that will keep you occupied at the circuit - autograph signing sessions with the drivers, access to the paddocks where you can get up close to all the cars, an automobilia fair and art exhibition, slot cars and passenger laps of the circuit for charity are all planned for your entertainment.
