Hotel Equatorial, Melaka

Holiday Inn, Penang * * * *
Kuala Lumpur. It was the first British trading post in the Far East and capital, Georgetown, is still a bustling city. If you are brave enough you can take a trishaw ride around the old streets still with their colourful pre-war shophouses and antique shops. Elsewhere on the island you can visit the Chinese pagoda, one of the world's longest reclining Buddha's, the butterly and fruit farms and much more besides.
On Batu Ferringhi beach you can slow down. Spend the daytime under a shady palm tree and sunsets on Penang are magnificent. You can sample any number of cuisines in the restaurants around the hotel, buy your souvenirs from the night market and there are late night bars and nightclubs if you wish. The hotel is beachfront with tranquil, lush gardens, a pleasant pool bar and coffee shop which is excellent value. Bedrooms reserved for you all have seaview.
Rebak Marina Resort, Langkawi * * * * Langkawi, also just an hour by air from Kuala Lumpur, is a much quieter island than Penang. Water buffalo roam freely among the padi fields and the mangrove swamps are home to plenty of monkeys. The main industry, apart from tourism now, is still fishing.
Our hotel is on Rebak Island, just ten minutes by boat from the big island. The resort is tranquil, the gardens well-tended and shady and the staff are attentive. Bedrooms are in small lowrise blocks around the resort and it is the perfect place to stay if you really want to escape for a few days. The only disturbance will be the lapping of the water, the gentle noise of the motorboat and the birdsong. In the late afternoon you can watch the sea eagles soaring high over the island. If you want to go shopping or sightseeing the motorboat shuttle service will take you back to the main island.
Nexus Resort * * * * *There are so many wonderful places to visit in Malaysia. You can spend a few days in the ancient rainforest, look down from the tree-top canopy walkway, swim in fresh lakes and take guided jungle walks. Fly down to Borneo to visit the orang utan sanctuary whilst spending a few days at one of the excellent resort hotels. Melaka, the birthplace of modern Malaysia, is a city rich in cultural heritage and very colourful. In the Cameron Highlands tea plantations stretch for miles around and you can take tea and buttered scones at a typically English inn. There’s so much to see and do – and we can arrange it for you.
