Malaysian Grand Prix

Kuala Lumpur - 5 April 2009

Malaysian race trackIt’s at this time of the year, after a dismal Winter, when the thought of some warm sunshine is extremely appealing and Malaysia is the perfect holiday destination. Taking place on Easter weekend you can take off to a tropical climate and enjoy one of the best races of the year.

With its mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, Malaysia is a melting pot of traditions.  Ornate temples, modern skyscrapers, teeming markets and air-conditioned shopping malls can all be found on a typical Kuala Lumpur street.   Eating is a national pastime and from hawker stalls to simple cafes or western style restaurants you will find it all within a few minutes walk.  There are plenty of sights to see and our city tour will give you an insight into the history and heritage. For individual sightseeing taxis are cheap or you can take the fast monorail across the city.  Shopping malls are open twelve hours a day and you can have fun bartering in the night markets for souvenirs. The countryside is lush and green with oil palm plantations and on the coast the beaches are white and idyllic.

After a weekend in KL, relax for five sun-soaked days on one of Malaysia’s paradise islands or on the east coast. We have chosen three excellent resorts and hotels to help you make the most of your holiday.

Tickets for the 2009 Formula One Grand Prix in Malaysia are now on sale at very advantageous rates – many grandstands cheaper than in 2008.

These promotional prices are only valid until the end of January 2009 at the latest so book now and save pounds.

Hotel Impiana, Cherating

Pahang is the biggest state on the Malay peninsula, much of which is still covered by extensive rainforests. Hotel ImpianaThe cooler highland resorts with tea plantations supply the country’s fruits, flowers and vegetables and the coast has many renowned beaches.

A short flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan and you will be by the pool at your four star resort hotel. With its beachfront location, inviting swimming pool and choice of coffee shop, restaurant, bar and lounge you’ll have all you need for a relaxing break. The traditional Malay bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and hotel services are excellent.

Holiday Inn, Penang

Malaysia Holiday Inn
The Holiday Inn, Penang

Penang is the most popular of Malaysia’s island resorts and just a one hour flight from Kuala Lumpur. It was the first British trading post in the Far East and the capital, Georgetown, is still a bustling city.  There’s plenty to see here and, if you are brave enough, you can take a trishaw ride around the streets with the colourful pre-war shophouses. Elsewhere on the island you can visit butterfly farms and botanical gardens, the Chinese pagoda, take a funicular to the top of Fraser’s Hill and see one of the world’s longest reclining Buddha’s.

On Batu Ferringhi beach you can slow down!  Spend the daytime under a shady palm tree and sunsets here are magnificent. As dusk falls sip a cocktail by the pool bar and plan your evening. You can sample any number of cuisines in the many restaurants, buy your souvenirs from the street market and there are late night bars and nightclubs if you wish.

The hotel is not the biggest on the beach but the service is personal, the gardens are beautiful and the open air lobby lounge and coffee shop are excellent value. Bedrooms reserved for you all have seaview.

Rebak marinaRebak Marina Resort, Langkawi

Also just an hour’s flight from Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi is  much quieter.  Water buffalo roam freely among the paddy fields and the mangrove swamps are home to plenty of wildlife. The island is very green and the main industry is still fishing.

Our hotel is on Rebak Island – just ten minutes by motorboat from the big island.  You will be met at the airport and your luggage taken care of.   The resort is tranquil, the gardens immaculate and the staff are attentive.   Bedrooms are in small lowrise blocks around the resort and if you really want to get away from it all this is perfect.

The only disturbance will be the gentle phut phut as boats pass by and in the late afternoon you can watch the sea eagles soaring high over the island. A motorboat shuttle service will take you to the big island if you want to go shopping or sightseeing.

Tailor Made Holidays

There are so many wonderful places to visit in Malaysia. You can spend a few days in the ancient rainforest, look down from the tree-top canopy walkway, swim in fresh lakes and take guided jungle walks. Fly down to Borneo to visit the orang utan sanctuary whilst spending a few days at one of the excellent resort hotels. Melaka, the birthplace of modern Malaysia, is a city rich in cultural heritage and very colourful. In the Cameron Highlands tea plantations stretch for miles around and you can take tea and buttered scones at a typically English inn. There’s so much to see and do – and we can arrange it for you.
