Grand Prix de Pau

Tuesday 19 May

Join the tour in Portsmouth for the overnight sailing to St Malo. On board we will meet in the cocktail bar for a chance to get to know other participants on the tour, before retiring to your on-board accommodation.

Wednesday 20 May

Our first port of call is one of our favourite coffee stops, at the superb Manoir de l'Automobile. Even those who have been before still marvel at the extent of this private collection. After a good chance to look around and some refreshment we continue to La Rochelle and our hotel in the old port. This evening we will dine at an excellent Bistro on the quayside.

Thursday 21 May

Today we continue along the coast to Rochefort for some fascinating visits and to check on the progress of the faithful recreation of l'Hermione, the 18th century frigate used to aid the American insurgents as they struggled for their independence.

Grand Prix de Pau From here we continue to our lunch stop in an oyster park for some of the freshest Atlantic seafood available! Afterwards it's a scenic drive down the Gironde estuary to our overnight stop in Blaye. Dinner tonight will be in the hotel's excellent restaurant with fine wines of the region.

Friday 22 May

Today we suggest a pleasant route down to Pau, with a lunch stop for the group. After checking in to our centrally located hotel the evening is free and there are bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Saturday 23 May

Tickets for the practice and racing with access to the paddock and main grandstands are included for you. Having chosen your preferred viewing spot you can have lunch at one of the many restaurants or bars on the esplanade. This evening we include dinner at a surprise location with some entertainment thrown in for good measure.

Sunday 24 May

2009 promises some good grids in Pau, typically including an F1 and F2 race, a GT endurance race and many excellent support races. Today we have organised a lunch for the group in a pleasant location. The evening is free to enjoy as you wish.

Monday 25 May

After breakfast at the hotel we make our way to Santander for the return ferry crossing to Plymouth, arriving on Tuesday morning.
