Situated halfway between Biarritz and Toulouse at the foot of the Pyrenees, Pau is a beautiful and historic city. The circuit in Pau can be traced back to 1901 when it staged the very first motor race to be called a Grand Prix. After a few modifications to the layout the circuit has remained unchanged since 1935. The Pau circuit has had a long running association with F2, F3 and latterly Formula 3000, with former winners such as Nuvolari, Fangio, Clark, Alesi, Montoya and current British F1 star Lewis Hamilton.
