World Superbikes - 28 May - Silverstone

KiyonariAt the 2005 WSBK round at Silverstone James Toseland had a great weekend finishing third in race one and winning the second. Haga on his Yamaha ran out of fuel on lap 25 of race one but fared better later in the day salvaging a third place. Crowd favourite Kagayama struggled to make seventh after a good start and the Foggy Petronas team had a rough time on what was an action-packed weekend.

The 2005 British Superbike race took place on a sun-drenched circuit. An incident with an oil slick brought out the red flags. At the re-start Haslam went into the lead but had to give way to Rutter. Meanwhile Lavilla was back in seventh but steadily made progress and with a deft manoeuvre sailed into the lead. Kiyonari, who had fallen at Woodcote, worked his way back to eighth place at the finish.

LavillaLavilla would have made it a double but Kiyonari, despite maximum pressure throughout the second race crossed the line just ahead of him. The rest of the field just couldn’t keep up. Following a third and podium finish in race one Reynold’s second race ended on lap two with a fall at Priory.
