Bahrain Grand Prix Pre-Season Visit
I recently had the opportunity to visit Bahrain ahead of the Formula 1 season to experience the destination in person. This pre-season visit was particularly important as we prepare for our Bahrain Grand Prix tour in 2026. Trips like this are a valuable part of understanding how a race weekend feels from a traveller’s perspective and help refine the details that go into planning Grand Prix travel.
What was the main purpose of your trip?
The purpose of my trip was to experience Bahrain as both a destination and a Grand Prix host city ahead of our 2026 tour, understanding how everything works on the ground — from arrivals and hotels to activities that could be included in a race-weekend itinerary.
The contrast between contemporary Manama and nearby cultural and desert experiences makes it a destination that pairs naturally with a Grand Prix weekend.
What were your first impressions of Bahrain?
Bahrain felt welcoming and easy to navigate from the moment I arrived. The infrastructure is modern, travel times are short, and the hospitality standards are consistently high.
It’s a destination where you can combine a major sporting event with local food, history, and desert landscapes without needing to travel far.
Would you recommend the Bahrain Grand Prix as a race to attend?
Yes — especially for anyone considering their first Formula 1 trip outside Europe. As an early-season race, the Bahrain Grand Prix has a relaxed feel while still delivering the excitement of a Grand Prix weekend, supported by reliable event operations, warm weather, and the unique atmosphere of a night race. Flight times are manageable, and with Bahrain just three hours ahead of the UK, jet lag is unlikely to be an issue. Seeing everything in person — from logistics and venues to the overall visitor experience — was incredibly valuable, and I’m looking forward to using these insights to shape our Bahrain Grand Prix programme for 2026 and beyond. We’ve already begun planning for pre-season testing trips and the Grand Prix race in 2027, so register your interest to be among the first to hear when these programmes are released.
